Signs your brake pads are due

Brake pads wear gradually, then fail expensively. These are the signals to act on.

Book now

Grinding noise

The pad material is gone and the backing plate is gouging the rotor. Every drive adds to the repair bill.

Book now

Soft or sinking pedal

Air in the lines, a fluid leak, or worn components. Braking performance is already compromised.

Book soon

Squealing when braking

The built-in wear indicator is telling you the pads are at minimum thickness. Replace before squealing becomes grinding.

Book soon

Longer stopping distance

If the car takes noticeably longer to pull up, pad material is low or the fluid is past its best.

Book soon

Vibration through the pedal

Usually warped or unevenly worn rotors. Machining or replacement restores smooth, even braking.

Book soon

Pulling to one side

Uneven pad wear or a sticking caliper. Uneven braking force is dangerous at speed, so have it checked.

What a brake service at Car One includes

Every brake job starts with an inspection and a written quote. You approve the work before we touch a spanner.

  • Full brake inspectionPad thickness, rotor condition, calipers, hoses and fluid. Measured, not guessed.
  • Brake pad replacementQuality pads matched to your car and driving: front, rear or both axles.
  • Rotor machining or replacementRotors machined where thickness allows, replaced where it doesn't. We'll show you the measurements.
  • Brake fluid check & flushOld fluid absorbs moisture and turns a firm pedal spongy. Checked every service, flushed when it's due.
  • Suspension & steering checkChecked on every vehicle as part of our customer care policy, because brakes and suspension work together.
  • Road test & sign-offPedal feel, noise and pull tested before the keys come back to you.

Why not leave it a few more weeks?

Pads are the cheap part of your braking system. Run them to the backing plate and the rotors go too, turning a routine pad swap into a pads-and-rotors job at several times the cost.

Replacing pads on time is the least expensive brake work you'll ever pay for.

Brake pad replacement questions

How much does brake pad replacement cost in Brisbane?

Brake pads on one axle start from $165 including GST, both axles from $329, and pads with rotor machining from $297. These prices cover the majority of vehicles; some makes and models are quoted on inspection. You get a firm written price before any work starts.

How long do brake pads last?

Typically 40,000–80,000 km, but city driving, towing and hilly routes wear pads faster. Front pads wear quicker than rears because they do most of the stopping. The only reliable answer is a measurement, which is why we check pads on every service, free.

Do rotors need replacing every time pads are replaced?

No. If the rotors have enough thickness left, machining restores a flat, true surface at a fraction of replacement cost. We measure against the minimum spec and show you the numbers, then you decide.

How long does the job take?

A straightforward pad replacement is usually done the same day. If rotors or calipers need work, we'll confirm timing with your quote.

Do you offer a warranty?

Yes. Parts carry their manufacturer warranty and all work is backed by our workmanship guarantee, in accordance with our Terms and Conditions.

What brake pad brands do you use?

We fit quality pads from trusted brands [BRANDS: confirm with workshop], matched to your vehicle and driving. For European cars that need sensor-matched pads, we quote genuine or branded equivalents and you choose.

Can I drive with grinding brakes?

You shouldn't. Grinding means metal-on-metal contact. Stopping distance is compromised and the rotor is being damaged with every stop. Call us on 07 3497 6101 and we'll fit you in as soon as possible.
