Is your car getting what it truly deserves? Learn about the pros and cons of genuine and aftermarket parts in our new article.

Your car deserves the best, and that means using the right parts. In our latest article, we will explore the differences between genuine and aftermarket parts, so you can make an informed choice for your vehicle.

The Importance of Choosing the Right Parts

Your car is more than just a machine; it is a reliable companion on your journeys. To ensure it stays dependable, choosing the right parts is crucial. But why is this decision so vital?

1. Genuine Brand New Parts: The Gold Standard

Genuine parts, produced by the vehicle manufacturer, are designed to meet strict specifications and quality standards. They are an exact match for your car, ensuring optimal performance and safety.

Pros: Precision engineering, reliability and peace of mind.

Cons: Often higher in cost, may take time to ship from overseas, but the long-term benefits could justify the investment.

2. Genuine Second Hand Parts: The Silver Standard

Second hand parts can be acquired from dealerships themselves, from usually older cars that are no longer in use. Mostly, they are sourced from scrapyards from cars that have been wrecked, however, still have good parts intact. In this day and age, Facebook provides a great market for this, with pictures, VIN numbers and even part numbers sometimes available.

Pros: Still the correct manufactured part for the car, just cheaper

Cons: Usually must be purchased via “cash transaction”, without any guarantees from the seller.

3. Aftermarket Parts: The Bronze Standard (sometimes Gold)

Aftermarket parts are produced by third-party manufacturers and may vary in quality. While some are of high quality and rival genuine parts, others may not meet the same standards as genuine parts.

Pros: Cost-effective options and a wide range of choices. Favourable for older vehicles and extremely expensive parts. Mostly come with warranty, as these are new parts.

Cons: Quality can vary.
